1045 is characterized by medium carbon, medium tensile strength steel with fairly good strength, machinability and reasonable weldability in the hot rolled condition. 1045 round steel is available in hot rolled, cold drawn, rough turned or turned and polished. By cold drawing 1045 steel bars, mechanical properties can be improved, dimensional tolerances can be improved, and surface quality can be improved.
