Overview

304 STAINLESS STEEL COIL

304 stainless steel coil is an austenite type steel coil with no or weak magnetism. After cold working, the organization structure will also be transformed into martensite. The greater the cold working deformation, the more martensite transformation, and the greater the magnetism of the steel. Like a batch of steel strips, φ76 tubes are produced without obvious magnetic induction, and φ9.5 tubes are produced. Due to the large bending deformation and obvious magnetic induction, the deformation of square and rectangular tubes is greater than that of round tubes, especially the bending part, the deformation is stronger and the magnetism is more obvious.

In order to completely eliminate the magnetism of 304 steel caused by the above reasons, the stable austenite organization can be restored by high-temperature solution treatment, thereby eliminating the magnetism.

It is particularly important to note that the magnetism of 304 stainless steel is completely different from that of other materials such as 430 and carbon steel, that is, the magnetism of 304 steel always shows weak magnetism.

If the magnetism of the stainless steel strip is weak or completely non-magnetic, it should be judged as 304 or 316 material; if it is the same as the magnetism of carbon steel, it should be judged as not 304 material.
